Dandelion Roots - May 2012 New dub from Dubkasm, and Monkey Marc on the latest 'Dubbers' volume from Jahtari records. Roots from Turbulence and Black Skin The Prophet. A welcome reappearance of Duckman's classic 'Duck Talk'. Calypso/Jungle mash from Ennio Maccaroni. DJ Tzinas on Dirty Dubsters 4th issue in their Ragga Party Jams series. In support of the London International Ska Festival I'm giving away a free, limited pressing 7" single of Phoenix City All-stars ft. Dave Barker's excellent Ska cover of Will You Still Love Me Tommorow. For details, listen to the show. Overall, some serious dread, some genre-bending, some silliness and some bum-loosening bass. May your dog go with you. Dread Pirate Peter

Marcelle - May 2012 'Vinyl!' This show sees Marcelle play her usual mix of vinyl: lots of new releases and some reissues. There's a great post-punk compilation on Caroline True Records, some gospel and African music from the Mississippi label, new cumbia from Batika, new 12"s from amongst others Hey-O-Hansen, Nick Dunton remixed by Sandwell District, Objekt, Wolfgang Voigt and Malorix, new albums from amongst others Black Dice, Goth-Trad and Institut Fuer Feinmotorik. Truly old vinyl are three Look Back Bore records released exactly 30 years ago (Cabaret Voltaire, Theatre Of Hate and Minny Pops). The Wax Across The Water sent to Marcelle by fellow Dandelion DJ Paul Ackroyd is the excellent electronica of NHK'Koyxen.

Mark Cunliffe - May 2012 It's May and as the UK warms up quicker than my old school's 70 year old coal boiler, what tracks have I got to put fire in your belly? Torro Torro is going to be heading to the hearing aid clinic if he carries on the way he's going. Gappy Ranks is taking us back to Hogmanay and Untold has a good feeling about Gappy's resolutions. Holly Golightly isn't impressed with her new boyfriend but Sonara doesn't care a jot. Post have erected a statue of Mario Balotelli after wise words from Graham Coxon and Bier needs some antibiotics which has blown Mackai away. Mark Whitby - May 2012 It's five years since my first show on Dandelion Radio, and to commemorate this there's a session from one of my favourite bands of the period, Dalmatian Rex and the Eigentones, as well as new releases from other show favourites including Llamatron, Best Coast, Venetian Snares, White Hills and Grass Widow. We play another track from the forthcoming album by The Sinatra Test, new tunes from former Hefner members ANT and Jack Hayter and the latest in a great line of Hungarian discoveries, Opus Null. There's a couple of tracks from the split 10" EP featuring The Movements and The Angry Dead Pirates, new releases from Wave Pictures and Evans The Death some wonderfully spaced out stylings courtesy of Heavy Hippies, a track from Burkina Faso's WAGA 3000 and loads more. Finally, in the retrospective corner, a couple of releases from the amazing Mississippi Records, some classic Trojan ska, my pick of the Dandelion schedule of five years ago from Gusto Extermination Fluid and the result of a twenty-year long search for my favourite great lost band, Leigh's Those Naughty Corinthians.

Peter Nelson - May 2012 Don Trust in session, with a gorgeous 20 minute collage piece. An empassioned plea from Yva Las Vegass, who's heart is still in a place of sunshine. Alaclair Ensemble have some suggestions about political arrangements in Quebec. Snorkie, Chat Logs, Audiotist with a new tune from Dancecorp's 3rd compilation, and Snail Bob with a new album on my own wombnet netlabel. Rocker - May 2012 This month's three-hour show features new albums by Evans The Death and Cats On Fire, plus new tracks from The Blanche Hudson Weekend; Allo Darlin'; The Nightingales; Veronica Falls; The Wake; Downdime; The Just Joans; The Rosie Taylor Project; and Dead Mellotron. There's also electronica from Squarepusher; Marco Bailey & Tom Hades; Microtrauma; and Pinch. The Dualers take on Prince Buster, while Rone remixes Max Cooper. There's a newly re-recorded track from The Wolfhounds, and both Standard Fare and Tender Trap come up with new recordings of songs they first recorded in sessions for this show. This month's Peel's Big 45 is a slice of rock'n'roll from 1957, while this month's Educating Elizabeth 7" is a Northern Soul classic from 1966 by Doris Troy. As well as little known acts, here's a little known fact: Doris Troy is best remembered by Northern Soul fans for her early American releases, including the 1966 classic "I'll Do Anything", but she went on to have a long and varied career, including backing many artists as a member of The Sweet Inspirations, a harmony vocal trio which also included Cissy Houston and Dee-Dee Warwick. Sean Hocking - May 2012 Hong Kong Garden takes in a wide arc around the Pacific Rim this month. First we take in the latest electronic dub from Los Angeles based Peaking Lights. Beautiful music indeed. We then head north to Portland OR and the city's current favorite underground band White Fang. Not only is their name taken from a Jack London novel straightaway but they also sound like the ultimate stoner rock band dropped into the Fall's shoes circa Live At The Witch Trials. So good we've had to include 3 tracks. Then a hop over the Pacific to Hong Kong and mainland China for My Little Airport and 24 Hours. Then it's time for our latest discovery on Maybe Mars Records, Traveller, who manage to sound like a contemporary Chinese version of Traffic. If more bands from this part of the world had their originality then Chinese music would be conquering the planet. We then head down to Sydney via a couple of quick stops in Thailand and Bali for some 70's funk and nineties chilled house respectively until we end up in the harbour city for some of the best new electronic music around at the moment. Sydney stalwarts Ollo have just released their 3rd album "Ape Delay" and newcomer Guerre shows us that Sydney's electronic music scene is as new and inventive as it's been for the past decade.

Sean Hocking's Nuggets - May 2012 Around the same time as I started listening to Peel, in mid 1977, I heard rumours about this amazing double album by the guitarist of the Patti Smith group (in those days I had no idea that he had a name! Lenny Kaye) where there was all this music from the late sixties that sounded not too dissimilar to punk rock , or so the rumours led me to believe. There then followed 2 years of fruitless searching for this most mysterious of records until i eventually tracked it down at a tiny record store hidden at the point where the North End Road meets the Fulham road sometime in 1980 and I spent the huge sum of 40 pounds on the Sire double album re-issue which to this day is still worth every penny spent on it. Since then my early days of listening to Peel and this album have somehow been intertwined in my musical brain although to my knowledge he never actually played any of the album on his show. So .. by a hop skip and a jump I have decided to create the first of my nuggets shows which tries to re-create what Kaye did with his collection by applying it to what I heard on the Peel show but also what I dug up in local record stores around the south of England in the late seventies and early 80s Some of these songs are bone-fide Peel favourites and some are just music from the period that i feel has been sorely ignored. From listening to Peel we have the wonderful The Dodgems' "Lord Lucan Is Missing", the amazing version of "Last White Christmas" by Basement 5, the greatest band that never was as well as The Prats and of course The Fall at their rawest best with "Rowche Rumble". We also feature Misty in Roots and Augustus Pablo. Out in the sticks one just had no chance of hearing dub so this music was both a revelation and a revolution. I also feature some other well known and not so well known punk and post punk tracks including the Angelic Upstarts' "Liddle Towers" and a song that just gets better with time; The Now from Peterborough and their song "Development Corporations".
