Gareth Main - July 2012
After the best part of a year away from Dandelion, Gareth returns with a heavily digidub infused two hours, featuring incredible Doncaster MC Parly B as well as Alpha Steppas, Soom T and Pupajim.
It's not all dub though, as always, there's a mix of the weird and wonderful, from Kamal Hassan's bonkers Tamil OST to the intensity of Deadfader via the tenderness of Liz Green and the hip-hop collaboration of Oh No and DOOM.
There's something for everyone, well, every Dandelion fan anyway ...

Marcelle - July 2012
'Repetition, repetition, repetition'
Exhausted by her frequent dj-travels Marcelle has some problems finding the right King Midas Sound track, as a result there is an abundance of King Midas Sound in the first hour of her show. Other good news is the pile of vinyl (and occasional cd) Marcelle brought back from playing abroad: from Switzerland comes the very adventurous (and repetitive) sound of the A Tree In A Field label, playing in Berlin brought her an equally surprising record by the American duo Diamond Catalog and at a festival near Bern she saw the excellent African band Jagwa Music, whose debut CD is a corker. Plus in Vienna Marcelle was given two 10"s from Alois Huber and Oh Gee feat. Dub Voyagers. Only one ends up in her show as she also wants to play new records from amongst others Swindle, Hanno Leichtmann and Harmonious Thelonious. The slighty tired dj made it a bit ease for herself by playing a lot of long, repetitive, tracks, but luckily she didn't forget the (shorter) Look Back Bores, this time from July 1982 (The Cravats, The Birthday Party and The Nightingales). The most weird record in her show is this month's Wax Across The Water: early seventies Finnish mumblings from Errki Kurenniemi are mashed up with the repetitive krautrockdrones from Circle.

Mark Cunliffe - July 2012
As I gear up to enter Tony Adams in July's annual Montrose Donkey Derby what will you be hearing on my show???
Well ... 3rd International is doing the solo shuffle but I think what Wes De Graaf has in mind for it could be a bit painful ... I reckon The Psychedelic Singh is having a retro Elite session which Jameson would thoroughly approve of. Balam Acab is drinking the by-product of an alien's probing, something which has done Gappy Ranks' head in. Fury is making like Daedalus while Starkey isn't using Fairy Liquid the silly boy. For those of you wanting a mix of Juke and Footwork then look no further than my session guest Wooferface with what is a stupendous mix ...

Mark Whitby - July 2012
Watching Euro 2012 disappear from my television screen and, here in the UK, being mildly sick of the Olympics even before it's started, I'm seeking solace in an extraordinary musical line-up headed by a one-off joint session from The Chasms and Vert:x, firmly established pillars of brilliance both, and specially recorded far away from the olympic viallage in the famous Isle of Man barn. Dodging the roads cordoned off the the torch relay, I deflected my attention to the southern hemisphere to present to you a huge dollop of exciting stuff from, among others, Indonesia's YK Decay and, from Australia, BOK Darklord and Emily Grantham.
In order to stop myself wondering whether the number of great musical releases Australia has produced this year would exceed the number of gold medals they'll win in the swimming, I headed east and found the excellent new album from Cambodian Space Project nestling warmly against the delightful noise conjured up by The Beijing Gang before heading back to Europe to find some Greeks bearing gifts. No, not the feeble display against Germany, but rather an excellent EP from The You & What Army Faction.
But of course I couldn't stay away from what was happening closer to home for long. In Wales, I found Future Of The Left with what may be their finest album yet, and Dementio13 of whom something similar might be said. Scotland's The Spook School keep dangling tasty musical morsels on their website and there's another of those in there, alongside a belated play from the Human Don't Be Angry album and an intriguing Beatles cover, no less, from Bill Wells & Aidan Moffat.
And as I sifted gingerly through a list that gives serious credence, once every four years, to the view that there's some meaning in the dark arts of beach volleyball, rhythmic gymnastics and synchonised swimming, I mused that it's not really a sport unless you stand a chance of getting your nose broken, sympathies brilliantly echoed, I felt, by the likes of The Hussy and Useless Eaters. Release the pigeons.

Mark Whitby's Extradition Order Special - July 2012
To tie in with the release of their excellent new eight-track EP, 'Our Thoughts On Failure/Our Thoughts On Revenge', I introduce a one-off special on Extradition Order, a band nurtured in the post-industrial hollows of Old South Lancashire and developed in south-east metropolitan climbs to produce music that, for me, stands comparison with just about anyone in the world at the moment.
In the show, you'll hear half of the tracks from the EP, while the remainder of the hour is given over to EO's Alastair Harper, who delves into his record collection to play some of the music that influenced him and the band and tells us a little bit of how Extradition Order came into being. Among his choices are gems from Fred McDowell, Romeo Void, Nathaniel Kidd and Benjamin Britten.

Paul Ackroyd - July 2012
A few new Domino Sound bits in the show, including an excellent Cumbian compilation, an Ali Birra reissue, and a bunch of early 70s Ethiopian wedding songs; a couple of Ugandan bits from Ndere Troupe and Charles Sonko & Frida Sonko, and some other chirpy African bits courtesy of The Four Brothers and Kakaiko's Band; some witch-related collage from David Orphan; a birra township jive from Martindale All Stars.
You will also find some super-long cello goodness from Hildur Guðnadóttir; a couple of Muslimgauze hits; an old I-Roy classic; a bunch of electronic weirdness from Pinkcourtesyphone, Suum Cuique, and Head Boggle; house and techno from Hieroglyphic Being and Ricardo Tobar; post-rock droney stuff from Visitor; an eighteen-piece in the shape of Andromeda Mega Express Orchestra; and it's Diamond Catalog vs Erkki Kurenniemi & Circle in Wax Across The Water this month.
Aceness all round.

Just 60 minutes of music this month, but taking in sounds from Cambodia, West Virginia, Carlisle, Wales and the 1980s nonetheless, with new releases from The Black Twig Pickers, The Lucid Dream, Dementio13 and The Cambodian Space Project, among others (try to match the artist to the geographical location to pass the time on long bus journeys).
There's also music so new it was recorded less than a fortnight before the show, as well as a little corker from the aforementioned 80s Peel stars who I'm (sort of) sharing the bill with At The Edge Of The Peaks in August ...

Rocker - July 2012
A three-hour show featuring tracks from 10, count 'em, yes 10 of the bands playing this month's Indietracks festival, plus a new 10" single from Ted Chippington, and new tracks from The Great Leap Forward; Shrag; Amida; Drop Out Venus; Dexys; English Singles; The Nightingales; Virals; and The Wind-Up Birds.
There's electronica from Apparat; Nathan Fake; Kryptic Minds; David Douglas; and Taragana Pyjarama. There's weird shit from Dolores Boys; Emptyset; and Anarchist Republic Of Bzzz.
Max Cooper remixes Patrice Baumel; while there's another American standard given a working over by Neil Young and Crazy Horse, and Black Tambourine pay tribute to the mighty Ramones.
This month's Peel's Big 45 is a rockabilly ballad from 1959, while this month's Educating Elizabeth 7" is a Northern Soul classic from 1967.
As well as little known acts, here's a little known fact: Dutch electronic producer David Douglas named himself after the famous 19th century Scottish botanist.

Sean Hocking - July 2012
Hi all and welcome to the July Hong Kong Garden. In this show I concentrate on some of the music I'll be showcasing at Metal Postcard's inaugural music and arts festival to be held in Portland Oregon 27-29 July 2012
If you'd like to know more about the "Sometimes A Great Notion Music & Arts Festival" then please take a look at either the website at http://sometimesagreatnotion.weebly.com or the Facebook Events page.

In the show and at the festival we're highlighting some of the new names from Portland's electronic underground including acts such as Pulse Emitter, Grapefruit, Marvin Gaze & Bedouin. Also on show and appearing at the festival will be a number of Metal Postcard acts including Ollo, The Emergency, Swoop Swoop and Louis Inglis.
And it's very exciting to announce headliners Felice Brothers, Ed Kuepper, Peaking Lights, Chris T-T (thankyou Dandelion for turning me onto to Chris T-T) and Detroit Soul / Funk / Psych legend Dennis Coffey.
So we hope you enjoy the show and remember Portland's only a plane ride away for the best new festival of the year!
