Kevin Robinson - October 2015
October marks eleven long years since we lost the world's greatest broadcaster, so this programme contains a sprinkling of crackly old night-time radio favourites from Misty In Roots, Shitmat, Ivor Cutler, Diblo Dibala,Big Stick and Roy Harper, plus Peel Session tracks from The Would Be's, The Slits, Tools You Can Trust, The Fall and Napalm Death.
Newer music this month includes tropical bass from Peru in the form of Chakruna, the incredible voice of Luzmila Carpio from Bolivia, Columbian percussive heavyweights Romperayo, Syria's keyboard king Rizan Said and Ghana's master xylophonist SK Kakraba.
There are new electronic excursions from Helena Hauff, Bleaching Agent, Kuedo and Beatrice Dillon, plus tracks from the new Shopping, Girl Band, Primitive Parts and Hieroglyphic Being albums.

To be honest, ladies and gents, I don't know what I'll be doing by the time you read this letter. Will I orchestrate communications at a state university? Will I bust tables for a nature museum's martini night on Fridays? Will I greet and wave at customers as they buy ludicrous and sexy costumes? Only one fact is certain - there will be tunes aplenty in my eardrums all month long, for I'm once again one of the judges for Paul Ackroyd's Dead Albatross prize.
You'll hear a bunch of the stuff I'm really into - Cathode Ray Eyes, Liberez, Annabel (lee), Michael Valentine West, and Roger Robinson, just for starters - and that doesn't even include the reissue category (holy holy holy blackness, like Bourbonese Qualk).
Aside from that, I've also brought along two groups I've seen in Atlanta; assorted techno and the like from St. Marie Records; fragmented MP3 avant-garde from Janne Nummela; more fabulous confusion from Jumble Hole Clough; and THE ALMIGHTY UNSTOPPABLE FORCE that is Blank Realm. Among the usual odds and ends, of course.

Mark Cunliffe - October 2015
First thing to say there is a wonderful session in the form of a live set from Haiku Salut recorded at The Voicebox in Derby on 7th August.
There's also some Snow Ghosts and rap from Reverie. There's some drum and bass from Marcus Visionary and reggae from Gappy Ranks amongst others.
Derby's Wintering treat us to some sprawling guitar business and Dot does a superb cover. That's just the tip of the iceberg though I should mention the featured album from the incredible Tamikrest, it's a live vinyl album released on a record store day ...

Mark Whitby - October 2015
Aside from Antarctica (that penguin scene really needs to get its act together) all continents are represented in the show this month, including the excellent Novampb from Brazil, Jordan's Za'ed Na'es, Mexicans Turning Torso, PanSTARRS from Egypt and a fantastic split release from France's Kythibong label. There's also another bunch of great cassette releases, including Vanilla Poppers from Australia, Los Angeles' Gang Nails and The Minneapolis Uranium Club Band from, as you may have guessed, Minneapolis.
Our session guests come from a little closer to home as we finally get round to asking The Bordellos (from St Helens) for a session and they deliver the goods in some style. We've also got a couple of featured compilations, one from Scotland's excellent Bearsuit label, the other the cracking 'Roots Of Funk' box set recently put out by Fremaux & Associes.
We also welcome the return of the much-loved Daddy Tank, while a fine album from Janne Numella while the [label]Elefant[label] label continues its great year with a couple of new releases from Die Katapult and Iko Cherie. There's a track each from the recent albums from Battles and Public Image Ltd, while this month's Peel Back... feature looks back to session tracks from twenty and forty years ago from Bis and the legendary Vivian Stanshall.

Pete Jackson - October 2015
October brings, alongside Halloween and Peel remeniscenses, loads of really long tracks and cover versions - often simultaneously.
So, to find out what happens when Mamuthones take on The Rolling Stones, Arcade Messiah has a crack at Aphrodite's Child or Steph Sweet tackles The Creation, look no further.
There's a mini-celebration of the return of two Peel favourites from the 1980s, and a half hour of Horror from the likes of Goblin, Lord Numb and even John Carpenter - so try not to have nightmares.

This month's three hour show packs in loads of new music. There's a new session from The Charlie Tipper Conspiracy (formerly The Charlie Tipper Experiment), plus new tracks from Hethers (formerly Heathers); Poppycock; Shit Present; Kissing Party; Alimony Hustle; Thee AHs; Grubs; Brad San Martin; Tymon Dogg; Worriers; Mammoth Penguins; Royal Headache; Expert Alterations; Low and Bodyheat.
There's electronica from Taragana Pyjarama; Auntie Flo; Stephan Bodzin and Fatima Yamaha.
There's a couple of disparate yet essential new reissues - from Tommy McCook and Thee Headcoats, plus a light sprinkling of covers - Bristol's Trust Fund take on Alice Deejay of all people, while Private Gentlemen's Yacht Club bring us their unique post-piggate reading of Katy Perry's 'I Kissed A Girl', and session guests The Charlie Tipper Conspiracy rework a classic Martin Hannett produced track from 1980.
This month's Peel's Big 45 is a 1972 release on John Peel's own Dandelion Record label, and this month's Educating Elizabeth record is a 1971 classic from Detroit's Chairmen Of The Board.
As well as little known acts, here's a little known fact: 'Chook' is Australian slang for 'Chicken'.

Welcome back to the show. I seem to be on a bit of a 12" trip this month with great tracks from the likes of DJ Arne, Kahn, Bolonghassa and Kryptic Minds amongst others.
On the quieter side of things we've got a new EP from Perth based The Shops. That Baby Baby track is pretty hard for me to shake out of my synapses, something from Brian Eno to celebrate the fact that he was this years chosen speaker to deliver the Peel lecture last month.
Brand new releases from Melbourne's No Zu who have signed to Chapter Music. A label that have been putting out great independent Australian music for nigh on quarter of a century. Also a couple of new tracks from Portland artist Hands Inn who played a great little set one Saturday afternoon at Beacon Sound Records in Portland on a coffee table whilst friends joined in the modular synth jam session.
As you'll hear on the show I'm very excited by the discovery of a new The MC5 set, recently discovered. Recorded at Gibus Club in Paris it records them at their rawest best. Pity I was only six at the time otherwise I'd have stolen the parents soda stream and tried to flog it so I could get that Sealink ferry across to France! As always Ring of Fire would be an empty exercise without a dose of Roots, some strange Indian funk and Chinese edm hip hop! So we've thrown a bit of each I as well and a touch of politics as it has been the year of Jeremy & Bernie.
See you next month.
