Lee Adcock - March 2017
I know, I know - when I say "football", you think about Manchester United or Arsenal or whatever league you pledge allegiance to in the pub. But I'm American, remember, and so "football" to me means 100-yard fields, blokes with shoulder pads, marching bands, boiled peanuts in the stands, and last month's Super Bowl face-off, the first in nearly a decade for our homeboys the Atlanta Falcons. Mind, I did not have that in mind at all when compiling this month's playlist, but somehow I managed to round up a decent hunk of noise and talent from the ATL: the Flipper-esque DiCaprio, demonic outsider racket from Mister Lettuce, a gorgeous anthem from Bitter, and introverted new wave from Civils, among others. Here's to good karma, eh.
Now, the rest of the program is business as usual, a broad net of what has been, what's poppin' now, and what's to come. Nice Legs and No Joy return to the field with fresh new jerseys; King Champion Sounds kicked out a diabolical single on the sly; Delicate Steve tries to engineer sound for the halftime show, as Xiu Xiu actively works to mutilate it; Jesca Hoop commands the stage while Crystal Fairy chug beer in the wings; Strange U pickets outside, while Quelle Chris does stand-up on the streets. And yeah, tons and tons of other names you may or may not have ever heard before.
Not to mention - remember that Tim Darcy record I mentioned back in January? Yeah, we're closing with that again. Try not to melt.

Mark Whitby - March 2017
This month we feature a new session from the excellent Lord Numb, a man who recorded his first session for the show back in September 2009. There are other long-standing favourites joining us, including more from recent releases from David Tantamount and Kloba Kent and a remix of Four Tet, plus a new single from Wolf Girl, something from the new Blanck Mass album and the latest in the series of monthly singles from Sir Robert Orange Peel.
However, more than half of the tracks in the show are from artists we've never played before. These include four from our featured compilation, the latest from France's With A Messy Head label, Jan Strach and Popsysze from Poland, Lithuania's Echo Delta, Russians Syberian and Mirrored Lips and Finland's Disapprove and Jaako Laitinen & Vaara Raha.
Meanwhile, the wonderful Awesome Tapes From Africa supply a couple of fine tunes from Niger's Zara Moussa and Ghana's Alpha Wess, while this month's Peel Back... features tunes played by John Peel in his March shows of 1977, 1987 and 1997.

Rocker - March 2017
A packed three hour show, featuring exclusive new sessions from Indie stalwarts and veterans of C86 The Wolfhounds, plus knob-twiddling Bristolian electronica duo The Twelve Hour Foundation.
There's new tracks from The Whooperups; The Courtneys; Former Bullies; Neurotic Fiction; Pardon Us; Secret Shine; Party Of One; The Jesus And Mary Chain; Ghost Thoughts; Plume Of Feathers; The Nightingales; The Drain On The Balcony and Enderby's Room.
Hot Since 82 remix Hot Chip's Joe Goddard's take on a Danny Tenaglia house music standard, while Detroit techno wizard Carl Craig rejigs one of his classic tracks for full orchestra. There's also electronica from Joy Orbison and Beckers & D-Nox.
This month's Peel's big 45 is a 1964 guitar instrumental, while this month's Educating Elizabeth record is a rare 7" released in 1971 in Guinea, West Africa.
As well as little known acts, here's a little known fact: "Whooperups" is a Victorian word for "inferior, noisy singers".

Sean Hocking - March 2017
The last couple of weeks seems to have brought a tsunami of new music, so I'm not complaining. We've got great new music from Sir Robert Orange Peel, The Molochs, Michael Plater and many more.
Last year I came across the new dance sub-genre Gqom out of Durban in South Africa. It was interesting but didn't engage me as much as Kwaito, or so I thought. Having discovered new tunes by the likes of DJ Lag and Cazin I'm smitten and hope you will too. FACT Magazine has a great feature (http://www.factmag.com/2016/01/05/gqom-feature/) on the genre if you are interested and, if you have time to visit YouTube, search out some videos. Great music, fabulous dance moves and some pretty snappy styling going on too. Looking at the things happening in SA these days I'd suggest that the UK has lost its street cool cred crown and it has been passed onto South Africa and especially Durban.
One band that has piqued my curiosity this past month are the Trance Farmers (https://www.facebook.com/TranceFarmers). OK they are on super hip label [label]Stones Throw[/url] but let's not hold that against them. The songs I've been listening to remind me very much of early raw lo-fi Beck and I'd really recommend searching out more of their music.
Thanks for listening ./. back again next month
