Lee Adcock - September 2017
Breathe in. Breathe out. Own your existence on this planet. Guys, last month was a roller coaster of affirmations and denials, on both a personal and public level, so let's spare the clever metaphors and cut right to the chase. You who listen to this show, I embrace you. Athens Popfest has left me still in awe of kindness, of how readily and easily people will offer their kindness - and so I have vowed, that never will I give up on people. Do not ever, world, consign me to a hermit's cloister.
That said, this month's show is crammed to the rim with positive vibes. You'll hear some of the upbeat bands that charmed us in Athens' neighborhood pub, like the enchanted songstress Emileigh Ireland and versatile crooners Tres Oui; on the main stage, arena voyagers Weaves and new wave theatre buffs The New Pornographers will sweep you off your feet. Speaking of Canada, (which I tend to do a lot these days), there's also a punishing 12+ minute scorcher from BIG | BRAVE, followed shortly by the breezy and brisk Faith Healer (positivity comes in many shades, yes?). Extra shout-outs to the ever-righteous Palehound, technicolor marvels Guerilla Toss, and gorgeous indie kids SOAR for their doses of joy, too.
For those of you in an irrevokably jaded mood - well, I can't blame you, and I got ya covered. Dig the rough twitchy sketch from Yeah You, the molten lava flow of Dälek, or the witty and wired screed from The Blow. Plus, EMA is back, so you know dark clouds are a-brewing there. The most biting critiques of all, though, may stem from the Fugazi obsessives Object Collection, who have tediously copied the DC heroes' warm-up exercises and incendiary banter and re-assembled the pieces into fiery collages of their own design.

Mark Whitby - September 2017
The first new Spidersleg session for four years is one of many reasons to tune in this month. Others come in the form of new releases from Mogwai, Holy Fuck and The Lasso, while of course we seize the opportunity to rectify the glaring omission from last month's show by playing something from the recent album by The Fall.
The unerringly consistent Soul Jazz once again provide the featured compilation this month, this time in the form of the wonderful Soul Of The Nation release and we play a track from one of the finest albums of the year, courtesy of Coca Leaf.
Poland's Jan Strach has finally released that long-awaited new album, so we play something from that, along with a bunch of cracking show debuts from the likes of Guffman, Kungens Man, Plunk 67 and Killakee Kat, while this month's Peel Back... takes us back forty years to the heady days of September 1977.

Psych gods and Peel session alumni The Telescopes bring a brand new four-track session that's the centrepiece of this month's Liverpool PsychFest special, where you'll also find a new and exclusive track from White Manna and another specially chosen for us by Julie's Haircut to celebrate their appearances at this year's festival.
A whole hour of the show is devoted to acts on this year's bill, from long time favourites Wolf People and Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs to newer discoveries Grim Brides and The Comet Is Coming.
There's plenty of non-PsychFest related goodies too, including new tunes from The Fall and The Chemistry Set, electronic sounds from The Junta, Monoiz and Doshy and noisy high-jinks from Klaus Kinski and Black Pudding among others.

Rocker - September 2017
A three hour show packed with new music, including tracks from Flowers; Gavin Osborn & The Comment Section; The Luxembourg Signal; Pama International; We. The Pigs; Polish Club; Monster Island; Jen Cloher; Lisa Bouvier; The Fall; JD Meatyard; Sore Points; The Charlie Tipper Conspiracy; Sunshine & The Rain; UV-TV; Seafang; Seasurfer; and See Through Dresses.
There's electronica from Microtrauma; Oliver Koletski; Solee remixed by Petar Dundov; plus to end the show an incredible remix of a London Grammar track by Kolsch.
This month's show includes the first of a new feature - Rocker's Shellac Attack - where I play a track from a 78 rpm record from the golden age of shellac.
As well as little known acts, here's this month's little known fact: Shellac is the material which preceded vinyl as the material of choice for cutting phonograph records. It was made by dissolving the secretions of the asian insect Kerria Lacca, the lac bug, in alcohol.

Sean Hocking - September 2017
Our most exciting find this month and one of the best new finds of the year are fairly new Beijing band Re-Tros. It's pretty hard to make rock music sound new and exciting in this day and age, Re-Tros manage to do it. Their debut album is out soon and you can find them either on Bandcamp or that video site.
I really recommend searching them out and hearing more than the two songs we've squeezed into the show. Great to hear The Fall on form with New Facts Emerge.
We're also quite fond of new Rough Trade signings the Honey Ha's they almost remind us of the days of the Modettes.
Lots of other great new music and of course the odd slightly obscure oldie.
Thanks as always for listening and i hope you enjoy a few things in this month's couple of hours of music.
