Andrew Morrison - August 2018
Andy's two-hour August show includes some cracking selections from Arliston, Ritual Veil, Ezra Furman, Dave, The Smittens, Sally Dige, Yaeji, Glass Gang and Lingua Nada. Previous session guests The Horn The Hunt are back with a new album 'Firewall & Silencio', a song from which gets a play. Two bands from Andy's hometown of Portsmouth appear, namely Bonemachine and Fake Empire. Andy also gets in the mood for an August trip to the Nordics by spinning Orbital's 2017 single 'Copenhagen', Denmark's Perpacity, Echo Ladies from Malmö, and a further track from what Andy has now decided is his official "album of the decade" (so far), the claustrophobic and atmospheric 'Things That Are Coming' by Swedish band Norma (with whom he hopes to have a beer or two whilst in Stockholm).

The Beatbox Saboteurs Show - August 2018
In this month's show the mystery surrounding Skreen's disappearance is revealed and although the presenting may have gone downhill, the music certainly reaches a new peak of perfection.

What do we have for you? Show favourites Amyl & The Sniffers, Klammer and The Equatorial Group return but (nearly) everything else is fresher than Merriman's armpits.
So, you'll be able to feast your ears on this lovely lot: Dentist, Searmanas, Social Station, Linda Em, BMX Bandits, Diane Marie Kloba, Bacon Horse, The Parazone, Shriekback, The Veldt, Cariño, Lost Chocolate Lab, Nicholas Merz, The Room in The Wood, Linda Guilala, A Shoreline Dream, The Perfect Kiss, David Ford and S T F U.

That covers quite a few genres and global locations but there's more too, we play a couple of classic 80s tunes and even slip in some of the usual anomalies, as they always seem to be enjoyed by everyone.
The more astute readers may realise that all this means it is a 2 hour slot this month. We hope you enjoy the show and don't forget to support all those wonderful labels and acts out there.

Gareth Jones - August 2018
Much to my surprise, when I'd decided to make my show a Summer Special last month, it stayed hot and actually didn't rain for 99% of July! So I'm feeling optimistic about August and I'm keeping the Summer 'flavour' going. So here's a real 'scoop' for you. For August I'm playing a bloc of songs about ice-cream. From classics like Jonathan Richman And The Modern Lovers to less-than-classics by ...erm... Pinky & Perky (part of this month's 'Secret Songs from the Sixties) plus two eerie ice-cream instrumentals during 'Soundtracks of the Strange' from the films 'Legion' (2010) and 'Ice Cream Man' (1995).
This month's covers versions artist is Madonna, as she celebrates her 60th birthday on the 16th August. You can expect to hear a version of 'Like A Virgin' played on the recorder by Zoltan Kodaly School For Girls, a country/bluegrass version of 'Material Girl' by Japanese duo Petty Booka and Indie versions of 'La Isla Bonita' and 'Beautiful Stranger' by Mega Emotion and The Big Moon. You'll also hear a track from Madge herself in an unusual collaboration of Madonna With Otto Von Wernherr recorded in the early 80s before her career took off.
There's also a bunch of new short songs from Bodega, The Slugs, Mommy Long Legs, Primo and Dentist. Plus a new Summer single from Cornershop, rap from Brigitte Aphrodite, electro from Hologram Teen and Battery Operated Orchestra and some skiffle blues from The Billy Shinbone Show. So there are probably more musical flavours in this month's show than your average local ice-cream parlour!

Do you like bassline? In my head, one of the kings of bassline has a new one out, it's Tommy P. The Wixard has gone a bit Grange Hill and Grey Hairs and looking for a double. DJ Boris helps Donald Trump to make an appearance and we have some Moroccan footwork no less from Skotek.
There's plenty of world sounds including some from Bombino and King Ayisoba. You know it makes sense ...

Mark Whitby - August 2018
It's been far too long since we last had a session from The Sinatra Test so we thought we'd better remedy that and told him if he did whatever the hell he liked we'd broadcast it - the results are, as always, magnificent. Also in that category are a new album from Diane Marie Kloba (there's another session from her in the pipeline too), an intriguing new single from Kusht and a new EP from the reliably brilliant Jay Glass Dubs.
As it's August, as usual we preview this month's Green Man Festival, with tracks from featured artists such as The Lovely Eggs, Sorry, Xylouris White and Bas Jan, among others. This month's featured compilation is the first volume of the Strut label's Disques Debs International retrospective. We've also got a track left over from last month's session from The Socialist and another instalment in our series of exclusives from Ian Thistlethwaite.

Pete Jackson - August 2018
After their stint on Mark Whitby's show earlier in the year Twice Dead are back with an amazing new session - expect noise and poetry in equal measure.
Elsewhere there's the return of more old friends as we spin the latest from Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs, Manwel T and The Lucid Dream.
Pete continues his current onsession with Peruvian music, an encounter with an Iranian chauffeur and the 70s hit single he played drums on (and a US band with a Thai name clearly inspired by pre-revolutionary Iranian pop), some great Cajun tunes uncovered and shown the light of day by the wonderful Death Is Not The End label and the usual assortment of psych, acid house, jazz percussion and whathaveyou you'd expect for a balmy summer.

Rocker - August 2018
Rocker's three hour show for August features two exclusive new sessions, as always recorded in Rocker's kitchen - one from Colour Me Wednesday and one from Arrest! Charlie Tipper. We also play tracks from this month's featured album - the 2018 Indietracks festival compilation.
The show opens with indiepop supergroup The Fortuna Pop! All-Stars on the last ever release from the label; plus there's new tracks from Jetstream Pony; Ex-Vöid; Fucked Up; The Groove Farm; The Science Of Words; Official War Artist; Vital Idles; East Brunswick All Girls Choir; The Total Rejection; Walter Lure; The Hector Collectors and Awakebutstillinbed.
There's electronic goodness from Max Cooperv; Applescal; Lunar Plane; and Marc Romboy.
This month's Rocker's Shellac Attack is a 1949 release out of NYC, while this month's Educating Elizabeth record is a 1966 release from Philadelphia.
As well as little known acts, here's this month's little known fact: 'You Can Hide Your Love Forever' was originally recorded by Comet Gain, and released by Fortuna Pop! in 2001. The lyric is a knowing and resigned response to the optimism of Orange Juice's first released album from 1982 'You Can't Hide Your Love Forever'.

Sean Hocking - August 2018
What would a Ring of Fire show be without doses of the Idles, Occult Character & Sir Robert Orange Peel in 2018? So we've made sure you've got something from each of our current favourites. Songs that reference Francis Bacon, Southern Rail and, of course, crazy Americans.
More amazing new music from UK acts young and old including a couple of great tracks from The Cool Greenhouse who are now to be found on one the best labels around at the moment, Market Square out of the unlikely home of rock'n'roll ... East Sussex.
We're also very fond of Benin City and their leftfield pop song, Bus. Echoes of Faithless with the 90's positivity stripped out, Brexit will do that to the best of us.
Something that's really surprised us is Ray Davies new album ... amazingly beautiful songs so one had to make it to the final cut of the show.
Black Moth Super Rainbow also have a new album out, a little calmer than previous fare but still their usual scary selves. Also on the odder side of the spectrum we've got Sylvester covering Neil Young's Southern Man and a track that matches up our new favourite 60's artist, Bobby Jameson with Frank Zappa and as for the Snake by Republicans Overseas Convention...
Thanks as always for listening to Ring of Fire on Dandelion

Thomas Blatchford - August 2018
Thomas isn't feeling himself this month, or anyone else for that matter, but that shouldn't and doesn't stop the pop.
Therefore, in the August edition of The Fun Club (insert better name later), show regulars such as Empat Lima, Eat-Man and Habits rub shiny shoulders with new favourites such as Miss Blanks, Hazeen and Mojo Juju.
Also, harps! Steel drums! Carbs! Poetry! A song where someone dabs at the end! A brief trip to the terraces! And possibly the greatest song title to appear on the show ever, which starts with the word 'Xoxe'.

Another 2 hour show this month, as ever I have tried to pack with new tunes. There are new songs from new LPs by T-Shirt Weather, Trustfund, Vital Idles and Miss World. Electronic gubbins this month comes from the likes of Nathan Micay, Punch Cards and Doubt. We have a cracking tune from 82 year Ghanian artist Ebo Taylor and a mash up of styles from the Bollywood Brass Band (featuring Jyotsna Srikanth).
Elsewhere you can hear a few gems from Australia from the likes of School Damage, Big Supermarket and Shifters. The Odd Box offering this month comes from Magic Mist from their current download single.
