The Beatbox Saboteurs Show - April 2020
Due to self-isolation, this month we have two shows for you. Firstly, there's a rather unhinged show where we have engaged "auto-pilot" mode.
Then, to help counteract all the stress and anxiety out there, Mr Blu has put together a special electro show.
We're not giving any clues to the content, we suggest you simply stay in and listen.

Stay safe everyone!

Gareth Jones - April 2020
My April show promises you entertainment from a safe distance, recorded in isolation in the spare bedroom. It'll take you on a worldwide musical journey from the comfort of your own home, with world sounds from Jewish bellydancer and singer Cherry Bandora and Tel Aviv's Baharat, plus this month's edition of "Secret Songs from the Sixties" features two artists from Turkey; Yüksel Ozkasap and Barış Manço.
Then in the 2nd hour "Soundtracks of the Strange" returns with two cuts from the cult zany Japanese musical "The Legend of the Stardust Brothers". There's also a suite of 5 new electro tracks including the return of Plone plus new post-punk releases on the Upset The Rhythm label by Primo! and ES.
All this plus some surf guitar, reggae, garage rock'n'roll and an isolation ending courtesy of Joy Division.

Jeff and Alfie - April 2020
Second Show on the bounce from Father and Son duo Jeff & Alfie, And its a beauty too! Three hours packed with joy!
First time plays from Pelican, Lounge Society, Lazurus Kane, Tree Boy & Arc and Bikini Body. We have another listen to The Maitlands, Carol Hodge, Thee Windom Earles and The Chats. There's a few tributes to much missed artists (including Andrew Weatherall and Genesis P. Orridge). With a sizeable feature of the super ace Record Label Speedy Wunderground a teensy weensy Black Midi treat and tales of bringing the washing in for his mum.
Its a grand way to spend 3 hours of lock down.

Leo Gilbert - April 2020
Music from around the globe, from newcomers and old stalwarts, from the 70s and the 2020s. Three hours crammed to bursting point this month from Leo, with a minimum of chat and a maximum of musical cheer, to offset the gloom that has descended on the world over the past few months.
Working in total isolation, Leo has concocted a cracker of a show, curating creations from (in strict alphabetical order) Alice Boman, Baxter Dury, Brainwaltzera, Broken Up, Caribou, Dan Deacon, De Kift (very special favourites), Eluvium, Flight Of The Conchords, HAAi, Holy Fuck (of course), iGod, Jan St. Werner (with Mark E Smith - heard of him?), John Peel (yes, the great man himself), Loke Rahbek & Frederik Valentin, Long Arm (brilliant), Lorenzo BITW, Lung Dart, Macka B (vegan icon, even if he does say so himself!), (the very odd) Odd Nosdam, Perfume Genius, Porridge Radio (like everybody else, I know, but they are very good), Pottery, Röyksopp, Saint Abdullah, Sarah Mary Chadwick, Seabear, Sleaford Mods, Syv de Blare, VST and Company (Philippino swingers), Wayne Phoenix, Wire (amazing that after so many decades they are still making such vital music) and the Yandong Grand Singers.
After reading a roll call like that, you absolutely will not want to miss a second of Leo's April show.

Mark Cunliffe - April 2020
Hopefully this and the other Dandelion shows can provide some escape from these rather difficult times.
Where can you be escaping to? Well, I've managed to squeeze a half century of tunes into this three hours.
One of those is Bumble Bee Crown King, who are back with another fab tune and DJ Manny is treating us to some more footwork magic.
The New Art School are no more but fear not, C.S.E Art Project have risen from the ashes and you can hear the result in this show.
Son's Of MU make another appearance but so do two more Son's Of MU off shoot bands, Quadian and Dukebox Accelerator. I'm playing Baxter Dury for the first time in years and Swarvy has a new album out to marvel at.

Mark Whitby - April 2020
A session from The Firedogs is one of many highlights in this month's show, as are our two featured compilations, the always keenly anticipated annual extravaganza from With A Messy Head and a fundraising collection from Bearsuit in tribute to the late Mark Barton.
There's a whole load of great stuff coming in from Eastern Europe at the moment, including a new album from Poland's Nac/Hut Report, a storming live collection from compatriots Cisniesie, some exquisite Macedonian brass from Dzambo Agusevi Orchestra and a new album from The Mabon Dawud Republic from Hungary.
Add to this new releases from the likes of Zion Train, Samantha Crain and The Room In The Wood plus a look at three featured gems set to come our way on Record Store Day and suddenly the lockdown doesn't seem quite such an unappealing prospect, for three hours anyway.

Pete Jackson - April 2020
With the world on lockdown, what better way to enjoy the expereince than with Dandelion Radio?
On Pete's show you'll hear new tunes from familiar names like Dementio13, Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs, Cornershop, Julie's Haircut and Dusty Mush and some from names that may come to be familiar, like DIVUS, L'Eclair, Moron's Moron and 96 Back.
There's insane beats from Mali courtesy of DJ Diaki, Manhatten rocksteady from The Dell-Hi's and all-star noise from Wasted Shirt and, right in the middle of the show, the most comforting voice you might ever hear - and we all need a bit of that right now.

Rocker - April 2020
A packed three hour show from Rocker, with lots of noisy stuff to entertain you if you're sat at home with little to do, including new tracks from The Cravats; The Flatmates; Toodles & The Hectic Pity; The Little Hands Of Asphalt; Breakup Haircut; Muncie Girls; Muddy Summers & The Dirty Field Whores; Porridge Radio; Green / Blue; Derrero; The Cool Greenhouse; Drinking Boys And Girls Choir; Billy Nomates; Peel dream Magazine; The Room In The Wood; Cult Figures; Pete Bentham & The Dinner Ladies; The Mark Vodka Group; Mark McDowell & Friends; Dropkick and Dark Thoughts.
This month's featured album is 'The Magic Of Public Relations' - the new one from singer songwriter (and former Dandelion Records artist) Beau.
There's electronica from Jonathan Kaspar; Four Tet; Steve Moore; M7 and Le Croque & HRRSN.
There's a couple of recent releases on the Happy People label, including this month's Educating Elizabeth record; while this month's Rocker's Shellac Attack is a contagious disease-related song from 1957.
As well as little known acts, here's a little known fact: Beau's song 'Edna & Jack' was inspired by stories of the bravery of the young women who joined the Special Operations Executive in the second world war, and were parachuted into nazi-occupied France to help the resistance movement smuggle downed allied aircrews back to the UK, and sabotage infrastructure.

Sean Hocking - April 2020
First of all, apologies to anybody who might actually listen to me, for the no show last month. Work travel turned into a bit of a nightmare for all the obvious reasons that we don't need to go into.
Back to my usual four hours for this month with a slew of new releases from some of our favourite artists including Cornershop, Woods, Kevin Morby, Ezra Furman, The Proper Ornaments and others.
Brand new acts include current it band from the UK, Porridge Radio, Australian outfit Panic Shack doing a great song about having their lighters nicked, it's the important things that matter in this world.
Also, new on Hyperdub, Angolan emigre now based in Manchester, Nazar. His debut is a tour de force and may well prove to be the album of the year. It's not easy listening and the subject matter is dark (Civil War) but the intent, the depth and writing literally grabs the listener from the get go. Burial, Giant Swan & Forest Swords fans will swoon.
Peel was a great supporter of Neil Young in the late 70's with repeated plays of tracks from Live Rust and the times we live in now deserve a play of After the Gold Rush from that magical live album. I've also thrown in a great version of Cortez The Killer by the Screaming Females to satiate those of you out there who may enjoy Young's exquisite songwriting.
We've also got John Cooper Clarke, Kool Keith, who it appears, loves a Burberry trench coat and of course a couple of tracks to celebrate the work of the one and only Andy Weatherall. I'm still at a loss to understand why he wasn't hired by the beeb to replace Peel. Like many of us he grew up listening to John under the covers and has said in more than one interview that one of his touchstones before making a song or track live was, would Peel find it different enough to play. Sadly missed here and as time moves forward it will become ever more obvious why he'll be missed. He did it for the music and in the end that's all that matters.
Talking about doing it for the music I'd just like to highlight that the great Sir Robert Orange Peel has released his latest in the series of Sex Pistols love tracks. He's flown the flag for John, Steve & Malcolm and now it's Sid's turn.

Thomas Blatchford - April 2020
It's somehow now April and Thomas brings you a double-hour from "iso" where we do not mention the C-word, only heavily allude to it a couple of times.
Starting with the most abrasive thing ever heard on this show from Lingua Ignota and ending with backhanded positivity from Cable Ties, this month's episode also includes a longer tribute to Andrew Weatherall than last time, both sides of the new split single by Hearts and Rockets and Zig Zag, not to mention new singles a-spinnin' from Fightmilk, RVG, Barkaa, R.A.P. Ferreira and many many more.
Now get away from me.
