Calum Carlyle - August 2023
A slightly August themed episode of Offbeat this month on Dandelion Radio, with the August sounds of PJ Harvey from her new album, as well as Arthur Lee & Love from a not-so new album.
There are several split-new tracks, due to be released soon, or only having been out for a few weeks, including tracks by Shakey Graves, King Gizzard and the Wizard Lizard, Night Beats, and The Men.
Plus, I'll be playing a couple of tracks from the just-released and very limited edition Re-Kinked EP.

David Smith - August 2023
Finally, we have an artist that knows how to properly use a flanger pedal. That would be A Place To Bury Strangers who have a great new live album out.
I also have new stuff from Cochon Double, Youth Sector, Klubber Lang, The Side Eyes, Witch, Lou Dalfin, Monument, FACS, Lurk, and so much more.
We even have a classic Thai luk thung song with a Deep Purple riff in the middle. How cool is that?
Enjoy the show!

Mark Cunliffe - August 2023
Sessions! I've not had a session for some time and August is clearly a greedy month 'cos it's got two!
Pantomime Riot, who I've thoroughly enjoyed playing since discovering them a few months ago, provides one of them and it's three tracks of wonderful.
Then the other session comes courtesy of Sons Of Mu, who have delivered a sublime live set that I really hope you think is a good as I do.
Because of all the session madness, the show is three hours long rather than two, where more Eternal Moment pops up and I welcome back the excellent Mari Dangerfield after a little bit of an absence. HOBOCOP serves up an instrumental banger and we are not talking Morris Marina's, while DJ Manny appears, like Mari, after a bit of an absence and it's soooooooooo welcome that he's still making fabulous tracks.

Mark Whitby - August 2023
It's been too long since we had a session guest on the show so it's only right to end that with a really good one - a new session from the magnificently confrontational Digital Resistance. And if politically-fuelled outrage is what you're after (and if you're living in the UK why wouldn't you be?) we've also got the anti-fascist single from Tantrum Zentrum and rhythmic dissidence from Zion Train.
You can add Bob Vylan to that too, one of many artists featured in my annual Green Man Festival preview as I look forward to (and, if you're listening later in the month, beyond) the traditional four days of revelry in Crickhowell.
Along with them, we've also got tunes from the likes of Jockstrap, Goat, Dur Dur Band International, Gilla Band and Billy Nomates.
And, with many Peel legends on the bill this year, we've got a Green Man-themed Peel Back ..., as you'd expect.

Join Mark as he takes us through another two hours of his favourite new music, with brief glances at reissued gems from the past and a general focus on the interesting, the odd and the unfairly overlooked.
Pete Jackson - August 2023
After a few months off - alright, six - Pete returns with a huge load of new and new-ish releases from favourites like WITCH, Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs, DXIII, Richard Quirk, Warrington Runcorn New Town Development Plan and Loreele Meets The Obsolete, as well as new-to-me acts like Itchy And The Nits, Pieuvre and The Giant Robots.
There's tales of gigs by Pulp and The Comet Is Coming, the start (and probably end) of a new 'Goes Country' section featuring Tinariwen and the Rose City Band, and a smattering of re-issues and golden oldies from Les Abranis, The Pink Fairies, Goat and Lee 'The Big Masher' Lilly, among others.

Rocker - August 2023
Two hours from Rocker this month, including new tracks from Jeanines; Crabber; The Natvral; The Five Year Plan; The Guy Hamper Trio; Taxi Girls; The Twelve Hour Foundation; Wandering Summer; Colored Lights; Silver Biplanes; Swansea Sound and Bridge Dog.
Prince Fatty covers Lonnie Liston Smith in a dub style; there's something from the newly released album of tracks from Viv Stanshall's Sir Henry At Rawlinson's End archives.
There's electronica from Nicky Elisabeth; Max Cooper; Kolsch; Hippiehaus feat. Sally Stone; plus an amazing new Burial track.
This month's Rocker's Shellac Attack is a 1951 recording released on the Chess label, while this month's Educating Elizabeth record was featured in a recent dog food commercial in the USA.
As well as little known acts, here's a little known fact: The Superbowl is actually an annual American Football match, rather than a really great receptacle for dog food.

Sean Hocking - August 2023
Bottom of the Pops is now based on the island paradise of Lembongan somewhere in the Indonesian archipelago.
Our daily sound track starts with a dawn hindu call to prayer from the Pura (temple) which rolls up the hill waking up our next door neighbour cow and cockerels. The sound of fuzzed out amplified gamelan and a vocal as ancient as time itself always reminds me of certain passages on pil's Metal Box album for some odd reason.
To close the day it is Ibiza-like sunset bars with playlists consisting of lite house versions of A Horse with No Name, Owner of a Lonely Heart and many more of a similar ilk. It shouldn't work as a soundtrack but somehow it is the perfect way to close the day after the avant garde tones of dawn.
This month on the show, we showcase The Chives album released on Metal Postcard records in July. For me it is the most rock'n'roll thing we've heard since White Fang came on the scene. Ramones meets AC/DC guitars with a touch of the Velvets and The Modern Lovers and songs about hating other people's parents, smoking weed in backyards and other similar bad behaviour. One of my favourite albums of the year.
Also, we have new songs from amongst others, Skillibeng (my favourite Jamaican artist at the moment), something from the new Night Beats album which I think is his/their best yet. My son saw them earlier in the year in Cologne and said they had a pretty impressive live show.
I haven't heard from Zongamin for a while so I was pleased to hear he's got a new tune out. African Head Charge have a new album out, first in a decade or so and it's pretty tough, well worth listening to the whole album if you can.
Song of the month has to be Broken Illusioned Toys by Portland project Oopsie Daisies and within 8 weeks its melancholy beauty has earwormed its way into my top 50 tracks of all time. I need a bit more time to know exactly where it stands but I do know I adore it.
There's lots more ... thanks for listening as always.

Sean Hocking on FSK - August 2023
For August on Bottom of the Pops we're going beachside on the mysterious Indonesian Island of Lembongan where BOTP currently resides.
Beachside bars in Jungubatu pump out a mellow indo-balearic vibe from morning to evening while we sip a frozen Banana or Papaya juice and watch the waves lap the beach and the surf break on the outer reefs.
Here's two hours of songs heard and songs imagined as we drift through the lazy days with our special guest & co-host Oti Prakarti.
Enjoy

X-Ray Moon - August 2023
This month X-Ray Moon has a three hour show. Once again he begins with two old-time favourites ...
He plays some ska/punk by Gogol Bordello. He plays a couple of tracks by the recently deceased wonderful Brazilian singer songwriter Rita Lee. There are tracks by Geese and Rozco Blanco, as well as a four tracks mini Punk section, with what X-Ray Moon hopes are some lesser well-known tracks.
In addition to all this there are tracks by the enormously fabulous Amsterdam-based group Altın Gün, a Dadaist poem by Raoul Hausmann, as well as the humdinger of a new track by Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway.
As well as, as they say, so much more… including – what could be much better than – a Nirvana track ...
Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!!
