Jeff Grainger - February 2016
There are two shows from Jeff this month. In this regular one there is a ukulele and a voice to die for is all that's required by this months session guest the fabulous Zoë Bestel. You'll be able to hear three exclusive tracks.
White Mary makes a welcome return as does Monkeys in Love & Primitive Knot. There are tasters of the new LPs by Bob Mould, Bleached and Amber Arcades.
Plus debuts by Kallas Kid, Cabbage, Yiiikes, Baba Commandant & The Mandingo Band and Soma Holiday.
On a sad note this months show couldn't go without a tribute to the late David Bowie, whose sad passing tainted the start of the year.
The other show is part two of Jeff's year long set of birthday specials.

Jeff Grainger's Birthday Special - February 2016
There are two shows from Jeff this month.
This is the second show of a planned 12 and is a cover version special in which we'll hear unique versions of songs by Donovan, Kraftwerk, AC/DC, Ohio Express and The Smiths.
This months classic session is Hausfrau Experiment's reworking of The Fall.
Heads up though! Jeff's 10 year old son Alfie introduces his favorite song - you have been warned!

Kevin Robinson - February 2016
So soon into the New Year and so many musicians tragically lost. Of course, John Peel is credited with discovering David Bowie, or at least championing his early work, and we have one of David's songs recorded in session for John's Top Gear programme in 1968 on this month's show. Also with Lemmy having passed away over the holiday period, we've got a Peel Session track from Motörhead recorded in 1978.
New music this month is supplied by Festive 50 favourites The Spook School, French girl group Badaboum and Toronto's HSY. There are also tracks lifted from the new albums by Cavern Of Anti-Matter, Shitwife, Kelley Stoltz, Hag Face, Heather Leigh and Bamboo.
You'll hear music from Senegal, Mali, Morocco, Indonesia, Ethiopia, and from India with Shye Ben Tzur, Jonny Greenwood and The Rajasthan Express, plus classic dub from Scientist, Suns Of Arqa and Mabrak, and reissued post-punk from Boots For Dancing.
You'll also receive an electronic pummelling courtesy of Sully, Kamixlo, Jlin, DJ Paypal, Oneohtrix Point Never, Shapednoise, plus Autechre remixing Russell Haswell. Dancing trousers on, people.

What is time, even? Just a few moments ago, I was nursing my foot with electric shocks and lying on someone else's couch with a cat in my lap. Now I'm jetting back and forth between Atlanta and Athens, a transient in my own city. Funny how these things go. Also, what started as the new year dry spell has overgrown into a weed-choked garden of music blooms.
In Atlanta, these unnatural growths may have been spurred by sorceress Dendera Bloodbath's demonic charms, or maybe a fertilizer imbued with bacon fat from Heavy Eyes, or maybe a thorough and bookish analysis of the art of horticulture from Pop Weirdos, or maybe Alexandria is just a natural at this.
Elsewhere, the curious souls of Immersion are experimenting with meteorology; T-Shirt Weather and You Beauty are bout to scrap with chains and fists out back, but they'll likely call a truce and go out for beer later with Mike Patton's Nevermen, who always throw one helluva party; Wussy and Signor Benedick the Moor meet at the general feed store and find that each can entertain the other with long yarns about their lives; and Letherette and Lance Neptune ran away from the farm years ago in hopes of finding the secret club where one may summon Tricky to the dancefloor. (They haven't found it yet.) And holy holy, kids, let's not forget dazzling returns from Laurence Made Me Cry, Witching Waves, EUREKA CALIFORNIA (ohmygod, ohmahgod, EEEEE), Rodney P, and even Frog (albeit a brief one).
Plus SO MUCH MORE. All this in a month! Time is so weird.

Mark Cunliffe - February 2016
First things first, there's a brilliant live set from Steven James Adams providing a session for this month. It was recorded by me at a gig in Sheffield last October and it's well worth a listen.
Not satisfied with that there's also an old joint that has only more recently surfaced on vinyl from Shackleton, one of the best producers there's ever been in my humble opinion. There's some bhangra from Deep Dhillon and MAIDENSTONE are borrowing all over the place to come up with a new take on the Beastie Boys Sure Shot.
There's some action from South Aftica in the form of Slo Dogz and Japan gets a look in with the brilliant Tamprille. Bandish Projekt have a new release which has to be heard and there's some borrowed The Doors by Russia's Mystic Brew and they're proud of the association.

Mark Whitby - February 2016
It's been a pretty miserable start to the year in so many respects. Thankfully, there are enough great tunes around to give us hope that the rest of it might not be anything like as dismal. We've got a debut session, for instance, from the excellent Unqualified Nurse and a bunch of tracks from some of the best releases 2016 has thrown at us so far, including tracks from Yorkston/Thorpe/Khan, Savages and Sauna Youth. There's also a glimpse of what's to come in the form of March album releases from Bernays Propaganda and Woog Riots.
This month's featured compilation is the fantastic In The Cities of Your Eyes compilation, all proceeds from which go to the refugee camps in the Greek islands. We've also got a couple of tracks from the new With A Messy Head compilation. There's also a cracking split cassette release featuring Germany's Shapes and Melfi, something from the new EP from Tasmania's Zoe Zac and a new single from Crystal Soda Cream from Vienna.
Show favourites Diane Marie Kloba and Bill Baird return with new albums and we've got something from the new EP from Laurence Made Me Cry. Despite this emphasis on the new, we do find time to take an affectionate glance back at some of those whose contributions to music illuminated the past so brilliantly. In that spirit, we take the unusual step of bookending the show with some great tunes featuring Mick Lynch, Lemmy, John Bradbury and David Bowie. Thanks for adding so much to the soundtrack of life, guys.

Rocker - February 2016
Well I sincerely hope there isn't another month as bad as January in store. This month's three hour show is topped and tailed by tracks played in memory of some of the great artists who were taken from us in January, some haunting and melancholic music which I hope will not overshadow too much our usual crop of the newest stuff.
We also have new tracks from Expert Alterations; Pete Astor; Peru; PJ Harvey; Nervous Twitch; Plume Of Feathers; Kids On A Crime Spree; Rauschenberg; Daddy Issues; The Manhattan Love Suicides; Wreckless Eric; Exedra; Stutter Steps; Courtney Barnett; Eureka California and Ginnels.
This month it is Skream's turn to remix The Chemical Brothers, and there's more electronica too, from Lauer and Underworld.
This month's Peel's Big 45 is a psych-pop 7" from 1969, while this month's Educating Elizabeth record is a slice of deep soul from 1969.
As well as little known acts, here's a little known fact: Ginnels are the narrow passageways often found between the terraced houses of northern English cities.

Sean Hocking - February 2016
2nd Ring of Fire of the year and we are still trying to get over the death of one Davy Jones aka Bowie aka my favorite incarnation the Thin White Duke. Many other musicians we love(d) didn't make it far into the year including Lemmy as well and we've featured something from both the aforementioned.
Mr Peel may not have featured either in the days I listened to the show from 1977 onwards but I get the sense that if he were with us still he'd quietly share the feeling of something intangible passing.
But this is Dandelion, it is Ring Of Fire and it's his memory we serve by celebrating the new. So in this show from Western Aus another amazing find. The improbably named Amber Fresh and her nom du guerre Rabbit Island. I hope you like her as much as me. A total original.
There is quite a lot of the dance floor electronic side of things in this 3 hour show, Grime artist Blakie, UK artist Hieroglyphic Being ... yes, I know we featured him in the last show but it is amazing stuff.
Also an old Patrick Cowley track, a 12" by Bicep and much more. We've got a mini Canterbury outing with a newie from Origami Horses and a joyful oldie from the genius that is Kevin Ayers and we especially hope you like Spaceape's re-invention of the Clash's Guns of Brixton. In 2016 it sounds better than the original - it's that good
