| Leo Gilbert - February 2020 There are two shows from Leo this month. In the first there are three hours of loveliness and brain scraping in equal measure from the likes of Graham Coxon, The Hinds, Hooray for Earth and HAAi, along with brand new tunes from Holy Fuck, Squarepusher and Special Request. Travelling the untrod paths of the globe, Leo shares a track from the Afro Deep vol 3 compilation, a song from Guts, a remix of Pat Thomas crops up and there are two more enigmatic, spellbinding tunes from the Guizhou Province of China, courtesy of the Yandong Grand Singers. Making music that is majestically melodious are Alice Boman, The Innocence Mission, Efterklang (fast becoming Leo’s pet project), the wonderful National Jazz Trio of Scotland and amelia courthouse. And that is barely the half of it. In the second (Leo Gilbert Again) he plays a whole host of tunes released mostly in the month or two before the show was pieced together in January. He plays another excellent track from the new Dylan Henner EP, a brand new tune from New Zealand’s Nadia Reid, an ultra-new song by Dan Deacon (the first on which he has sung in an untreated way), a very, very new track by The Innocence Mission, and possibly even newer is Holy Fuck’s album, a song from which graces the show. Most surprising and intriguing song of the month goes to Rabbit Island and Nicholas Allbrook: listen and you’ll see what Leo means. Aside from all of this strange-and-loveliness are tunes by iZem, Humanist and Depeche Mode’s Dave Gahan, the now-defunct Punčke, a very disturbing tune by CIA Debutante and more noise from Special Request and HAAi. Balm for your ears comes courtesy of Alice Boman, Efterklang, The Innocence Mission and Julianna Barwick. And a whole lot more. | ||||

There's electronica from Marc Romboy remixed by Ben Lukas Boysen; Martin Buttrich and Space Motion gives a new twist to a classic by Silicone Soul. This month's Educating Elizabeth record is a 1966 release from the sadly recently departed Lorraine Chandler while this month's Rocker's Shellac Attack finds one of the original rock'n'rollers in a mournful country mood in 1958. As well as little known acts, here's a little known fact: The magic power of joy re-unites all that custom has divided, all men become brothers under the sway of its gentle wings. | Sean Hocking - February 2020 We start the show this month with the great grime diss off of 2020 between Wiley & Stormzy. I'm still not quite sure why they are going at each other like hammer and tongs but it's certainly much more entertaining than the Brit Pop battles of the 90's. For some odd reason Black Midi join the party with a song dissing Ed Sheehan that we had to feature too. Two great women DJ's and producers have my attention this month Haai & Octa Octa, both of whom create wonderfully warm and danceable work with an edge I'm not hearing from many male producers at the moment. Looking forward to discovering more of their work. Brand new singles from Liverpool's Psycho Comedy, London singer songwriter Lou Terry, Wisconsin's Disq and everybody's current flavour of the month, Kassa Overall. The standout new artist for me is London based Lia Mice. Ring of Fire remembers Neil Innes who passed away last month with a track from both the Rutles & The Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band, a band who we'd love newer acts coming up, to listen to more. Their aesthetic still sounds pretty eccentric in this day and age which is fairly impressive for a band who released their last album almost 50 years ago (yes there was an album in 2007) but prior to that their last album was released in 1972. Lots of favourites new and old in the show and we'll let you discover them without further heavy handed introductions from me. I will make one exception though, Insanlar - Kime Ne (Ricardo Villalobos Mix 1) 12'. 15 minutes of Turkish meets minimalist tech genius, one of my favourite 12's ever, hoping that you feel the same way too. | ||||

| Trev - February 2020 My first show of 2020 is three hours packed with fizzing electronica, ambient drones and broken techno, add to this a smattering of sparkling guitar pop and the show is cracking introduction to the new year/decade. There are new tunes from Peaness, Porridge Radio, Alex Chilltown and AJJ and a couple of songs from new Birmingham band Wiiince - who feature former Ace Bushy Striptease members in their ranks. Wired and wonderful electronica this month from Beckton Alps2, Minos, Lite Fails, Alf Champion and a 12 minute epic from Mackintosh Plus. Elsewhere I've unearthed some old school indiepop from the likes of Nah, My Light Shines For You, Tampopo and Crystal Furs.
