Andrew Morrison - May 2023
Andy's 60-minute May show includes new music from Warrington-Runcorn New Town Development Plan, Black Honey, Malcolm Middleton's new project Lichen Slow, Depeche Mode and John Barnes. There's a track from the brand new third album by His Electro Blue Voice, and a pick from the debut long player from Brighton's excellent ARXX, as well as a previously-unreleased New Order demo taken from their 'Low-Life (Definitive Edition)' boxed set.

Brownbutter - May 2023
May is crispy and green, flushed cheeks, a touch obscene, yet ever showered and clean. Lace up your skates or your boots, or dance barefoot if you'd like (as long as you're not in a movie theater - that's gross).
Brownbutter urges your movement to the likes of Fake Fruit, Mudhoney, The Reds, Pinks and Purples, Yot Club, Tyler, The Creator, and The Chap, plus Robyn Hitchcock does Morrissey and Hallelujah the Hills does Grouper.
Stay cool, and as always, stay gold, pony nb.

More offbeat tunes and songs this month, many of them freshly released and exclusive to the show!
From Anatolian Rock (Altin Gun, Erkin Koray) to Alt Folk (This Is The Kit, Boygenius, Fontaines D.C.), to straight up rock music (from the likes of Gnome, Sack Trick, Ulrika Spacek and many more) with a fair sprinkling of category defying songs old and new, plucked from off the beaten track.
Put the kettle on and settle in!

David Smith - May 2023
Greetings! I have lots of great treats for you this month, including new material from Saeko Killy, Goblin Daycare, Yet No Yokai, Olimpia Splendid, Purling Hiss, Grecco Romank, Flyying Colours, Deerhoof, and Cat Temper.
I also have new reissues from Mallwalker and Model Citizens.
This month our globe spinning takes us to Greece, with five great songs from across multiple genres.
It is a Wonderful and Frightening World indeed, as we have songs from two different artists who released albums with that title.
We also have Kid Congo playing with a temporary Australian band and Duane Eddy playing an almost Benny Hill-like version of an old American classic.
Enjoy the show!

Mark Whitby on FSK - May 2023
Join Mark as he takes us through another two hours of his favourite new music, with brief glances at reissued gems from the past and a general focus on the interesting, the odd and the unfairly overlooked.
Rocker - May 2023
An hour from Rocker this month, crammed with new music, including new tracks from Pere Ubu; David Lance Callahan; House Of All; Benefits; Beau; and The Ballet.
[artist]Easy Star Allstars
continue their tribute to David Bowie, and there's electronica from James Holden. The Bloody Beetroots remix Bob Vylan.
This month's Rocker's Shellac Attack is a 1956 release featuring a track from the Twentieth Century Fox picture "The Girl Can't Help It". This month's Educating Elizabeth record is a brand new release emanating from The Wirral peninsula.
As well as little known acts, here's a little known fact: The average swan is unable to break a man's arm.

Sean Hocking - May 2023
Welcome back to Bottom of The Pops and the May show.
Mostly new releases on a 2 hour show this month. That said we also remember 2 important musical cultural figures who passed away in April.
First, Ryuichi Sakamoto, who had been fighting throat cancer for nigh on the past decade and finally lost that battle. That is, sadly, 2 members of the Yellow Magic Orchestra lost to us this year. I include two Sakamoto compositions and a YMO track by way of rememberance.
Also ... one of the great record label bosses, Seymour Stein, left us in April. Most will remember him for signing the likes of the Ramones, Madonna, working with Blondie, Talking Heads et al. He was a champion of new music and worked with many of the UK greats of the 1980s from The Mighty Lemondrops, to creating a label (Korova) simply so he could get Echo & The Bunnymen out to a wider world. Also he was known to be a big supporter of Apex Twin amongst many others.
Our cursory Stein set includes The Undertones, The Subways, Australia's proto punks, the Radio Birdmen, The Rezillos & personal favourites, Brighton's Piranhas.
I was once lucky enough to meet the great man at some record meet and greet in Hong Kong of all places. I'm rarely tongue tied but certainly was around him! It is also worth remembering that he also played a big part in creating the concept of the Billboard Top 100 and even more impressively, worked with the Shangri-Las too. Legend!
But it's not all about oldies. We've got some great new noisy & probably messy bands who never make their beds on the show with names like Goblin Daycare, Wayne Pain & The Shit Stains, Mystic 100's, Last Quokka and The Bad Plug ... all short fast and noisy, just how we like them.
There’s also new releases from Peaking Lights, Lana Del Ray (yes again!), Salem Trials & Legless Crabs.
Also listen out for some great new UK singer songwriters. Sam Wrangle & Tom Emelyn whose track "Scrounger" sounds like it could have been pulled off the first Beta Band album and James Howard who, although he sounds nothing like the mighty John Martyn, has a way about his songwriting that reminds me of the Scottish songwriting Jedi.
We also have The Toads (Australia), Exbats (USA) and The Bordellos (UK) who sound like they are channeling Throbbing Gristle on new tune, Free Music Day.

Thomas Blatchford - May 2023
Thomas and the two-hour tune-time this May sees both Neon Boys and Neon Kittens frolicking freely together, the ghost of anarcho-punk past in the form of Zounds and an actual friendly ghost from Daniel Johnston.
Mostly though it's some of the heaters with the highest flames from the first third of this year - by which we mean good songs - from the likes of Cable Ties, Phelimuncasi, Jemi Gale, Berk Offset, and more.
By the way, which band name would you consider the most difficult to search, Classic or Terry?
