Mark Whitby - January 2024
A new year, as usual, brings the promise of a whole bunch of enticing new releases and we do our best to cram as many in as possible, including tracks from new and forthcoming albums from Idles, Bob Vylan, The Sinatra Test and Dez Dare, among others.
Of course there are always those releases which sneak out at the end of the previous year and simply cannot be overlooked, including singles from Flesh Eating Foundation, Eureka Brown and Ruff Jam. Our featured compilation is yet another fine soul collection from the Numero and we have releases from a couple of labels from whom we expect much in the coming year, specifically Tropical Twista and Metal Postcard.
We have a Festive Fifty-themed Peel Back ... and tributes to Geordie Walker, Benjamin Zephaniah and Shane McGowan, all of whom crammed so much in to their lives before sadly leaving us near the end of 2023.

Rocker - January 2024
One hour from Rocker this month, including new tracks from Homework; The BVs; The Drain On The Balcony; Plastic Bag; and Lonely Tourist.
There's a belated Christmas single from The Charlie Tipper Rebellion, and there's electronica from Extrawelt; Nicolas Masseyeff remixed by Oxia; and Benefits - who get remixed by James Adrian Brown.
This month's Rocker's Shellac Attack is a 1956 release on the Imperial record label.
As well as little known acts, here's a little known fact: In France the guillotine was used to carry out executions until 1977.

Sean Hocking - January 2024
Welcome to another year.
December was somewhat crazy busy for new tunes.
My favourite?
It has to be new Melbourne outfit Judges who have just released their debut on the mighty Anti-Fade label. I include 2 of their almost classic rock tunes on the show this month. Whatever their X-factor is .. I love it.
Mr Mitch formally owner of Pekham's Gobstopper records has reinvented himself as the improbably named, dj cuddles. His new not quite hard house track Elfor One is rather good.
We are also loving the free on bandcamp album by blues burger .. a collection of hip hop/mash up tunes extolling the wonders of weed. It's a lot of fun and very well put together. Much better than you bog standard bluntz beatz type of affairs.
There is another new great find by Sahel Sounds, the people who brought us Mdou Moctar - they have found wedding guitar player, Bounaly, and recorded him live in situ. It's like having Hendrix play at your wedding. Each song starts in a deceptively low key fashion and by the end even Eddie Van Halen would have been working up a sweat!
Also new tunes from The Bordellos, Ghoßt Assembly, Meatbodies and Gabber Modus Operandi.
Prediction for 2024. Well ... if December 23 is anything to go by a lot more classic guitar bands that somehow don't sound pastiche.

Happy new thingy and welcome to hits galore in '24!
Although firstly we have to go back twenty years to hear The Fall and stop by the Festive Fifty while we're at it ... and maybe keep going back to 1971 to doff our caps to Jean Knight ... but still!
Here's where you get pumped for a great year of music with new stuff from The Vovos, Straight Skirt, Keanu Nelson, Heather Vomiting God, Party Pest and heaps more!
Thanks to Death Is Not The End we get to shimmy and slow dance with a partner, and there's some mid-noughties gems recently re-issued from Made Austria and A Bad Diana too.
