Brevi Linens - July 2026 We kick the show of in the usual pedal-to-the-metal fashion with some Chicago punk from Cel Ray off their new album out later this month. There's a great remix off the latest EP by hybrid punk band / DJs from Edinburgh, Bikini Body. The album by Horse Lords, Demand to Be Taken to Heaven Alive! came out last month and deserves getting another plug as it's a cracker. On the notable new discoveries list this month, we have KOGG and Akram Hajj, both deliciously experimental, creative and exciting. Also some goth, doom, folk from Emaleen Tangleweed who's preview track bodes well for her new album due out at the end of this month. Emma Reed - July 2026 Well it's the height of summer and the mercury is soaring so we have a track inspired by the traditional sounds of New Mexico from Lone Piñon, a charming song about a Bee from and the Native Hipsters, a couple of slabs of pure catharsis from YOUFF and TRAS (angry folks always use caps) and some mellow vibes from Max Lachowicz and Foel. There's also a little mention of global warming from Satoyama but it's so beautiful and cooling you won't mind at all. Leo Gilbert - July 2026 There are six hours from Leo this month - split across two shows. Leo's first show for July begins, as all respectable cultural enterprises should, with a song called "No One Will Fuck Me When I Wear Two Different Shoes (One Jordan, One Gucci Flip Flop)" by The Femcels, before immediately attempting to regain dignity via The Leaf Library, Hora Lunga, HYPER GAL and Carla dal Forno. The effort is only partially successful. Elsewhere, Mt. Gemini gets comfortably altered, ATFK gets remixed by Me Lost Me, and upsammy & Valentina Magaletti remind us that everything eventually ends, a theme enthusiastically expanded upon by Meitei, A Place to Bury Strangers and De Ambassade, who have apparently seen the news. There are doors to bodies, chlorine fumes, living people, and a version of "Karma Police" courtesy of cumgirl8, because reality no longer has meaningful guardrails. Crack Cloud offers a Safe Room, though unnamed singers from Namibia immediately ask a question that nobody wanted to answer. Later, Sleaford Mods and Aldous Harding arrive via a Prodigy acid storm, mary in the junkyard crash-lands, 33 & Olan Monk assess the state of things, and Model/Actriz stares uncomfortably through the glass. The closing stretch brings doves, pigeons, moon-watching, gunslingers, giraffes, atmospheric vandalism and a dead-end street courtesy of Tafese Tesfaye, MEMORIALS, Gilla Band, Greg Saunier and Zoh Amba. As ever, no promises are made regarding coherence.

From there, The Leaf Library tries to catch up with Isobel years too late, while Hora Lunga and MEMORIALS provide the soundtrack to a society quietly malfunctioning, while RIP Magic says it all in five words. Expect demons, distortions and minor existential emergencies from Ben Vida, Lily Seabird and One Leg One Eye. Dry Cleaning turns a fingernail into a weapon, while Gregory Uhlmann's pocket snail emerges. Later, Blak Saagan launches a bus into the void, Kim Gordon arrives armed with a devastating look. The closing stretch drifts through lakes, hexes, failed optimism, fleeting romance, cryptic numbers and the lingering suspicion that civilisation may have accidentally become content and De Ambassade closes with "The Influencer Accent" - a dispatch from the front line of cultural decline.

Mark Whitby - July 2026 After last month's festivities, we're back to what these shows are really about this month: digging out the best new tunes and playing them. Very much in that category are new albums from Osees, Boards Of Canada, Jon Spencer and Yard Act, plus a compilation from the Akenat label featuring great tunes from the Philippines. Post-Punk Etcetera - July 2026 The 4th June and 20th July 1976 saw the Sex Pistols perform at the Lesser Free Trade Hall in Manchester. So many groups that later became seminal and earthshattering were set-up after members of those later groups attended these mind-blowing deck-clearing gigs; people such as Howard Devoto and Pete Shelley (who organised the gigs), members of Joy Division, the Smiths, the Fall, Magazine, the Buzzcocks and John Cooper Clarke – among many others – were there... Not all of them who got their own groups together or were already in the process of getting their shit together were necessarily strictly Punk – but, let us say, were at least heavily influenced by Punk. Hence then, this period in time and what followed, X-Ray Moon thought should be "marked" and noted and and and... and and... and, this is Post-Punk Etcetera... X-Ray Moon states some of these groups could be defined as Punk, New Wave or Alternative. Whatever belongs wherever: THIS IS POST-PUNK ETCETERA!!!!!!!!!!
