David Smith

On my show this month:
While I certainly hope that you enjoy a look back with this year's Festive 50, I have lots of new songs to get you excited about the future, including great stuff from Aspect Noir, Krimi, J.R.C.G., Mousey, Vladimirs, Plié, and Karšti Klijai.
We are in the darkest depths of winter for northern Europe, so what better time to shine a spotlight on Iceland and the Baltic states and the incredible music that comes from those four nations. For this month's Historical Highlight, we take a theme approach by listening to four bands with seasonal names, so to speak.
We have some great cover songs, a stunning track from Buckethead, and the best song you will ever hear sung in both Estonian and Spanish. Decades after Buzzcocks warned us about fast cars, Night Lunch reminds us of the perils. Vroom vroom.
Enjoy the show!

On the show NEXT month:
February may be short on days but my show this month is long on excellent music. I have new music from Young Prisms, Mira Calix, and 大神棍, plus a new song from an upcoming release by Mattiel.
The great Rodent Tapes label just reissued some marvelous underground material from Germany, including Der Blaue Traum and Co-Mix.
There is no Historical Highlight this month, but we get a taste of next month's topic via an astonishing new reissue of an album by Archaïa.
Enjoy the show!

Biography:
Hello, my name is David Smith. I grew up in Detroit, Michigan, a perfect place to explore a wide variety of music via live shows and record shops. For the past twenty years I’ve been living in the Washington, DC area.

I've been a rabid collector of music all of my life, with a current collection of around 5,000 CDs and pieces of vinyl, plus uncounted numbers of live bootlegs, digital downloads, and cassettes. I've taken advantage of my world travels to buy records and CDs from all over the world, including the time when I bought a Xalam CD in Dakar, Senegal and nearly started a riot.

My aim at Dandelion Radio is to present an interesting and far-reaching collection of music each month, carefully selected and sequenced like that great mix tape you received from a friend all those years ago.
