David Smith

On my show this month:
Greetings and welcome to my show for May 2021. We have an exciting and memorable show, including new material from Facs, Warm Exit, Ratboys, and Sourdure.
In honor of Cinco de Mayo this month we will hear from a great new album from Lorelle Meets The Obsolete, which documents a live in studio session they performed for a Mexico City radio station two years ago. If you have been stressed out by the lack of music from the small nation of Andorra in your collection, fret no more because we have a great song from El Diluvi.
In this month's Historical Highlight section we will hear a few songs from the first twenty years of the incredible journey of Touch & Go Records. We also have a New Age Steppers song from a 1983 Peel session, a track from a great new reissue from South Africa's The Beaters, an amazing song from the criminally underrated group fIREHOSE, two brilliant cover songs, and so much more.
Enjoy the show!

Biography:
Hello, my name is David Smith. I grew up in Detroit, Michigan, a perfect place to explore a wide variety of music via live shows and record shops. For the past twenty years I’ve been living in the Washington, DC area.

I've been a rabid collector of music all of my life, with a current collection of around 5,000 CDs and pieces of vinyl, plus uncounted numbers of live bootlegs, digital downloads, and cassettes. I've taken advantage of my world travels to buy records and CDs from all over the world, including the time when I bought a Xalam CD in Dakar, Senegal and nearly started a riot.

My aim at Dandelion Radio is to present an interesting and far-reaching collection of music each month, carefully selected and sequenced like that great mix tape you received from a friend all those years ago.
